Rejuvenating my MG 2.7QR

72.234.194.146

This actually is a followup to the "biamping the 2.7qr", but i felt that i should retitle the post since it actually has nothing to do with biamping and more about doing a simple mod to make the 2.7 perform much much better than when i first played it.
Sorry to leave you all dangling for a few days, i had to wait until i got a chance to get to the Home Despot to pick up the part i needed to try some of the mods suggested. What i did was using some 10awg solid copper ground wire i replaced the stock chrome plated steel jumper bars. I simply bent them into the proper sized U shape to fit the terminals and with a small file burnished them a little to expose some fresh copper. They are a very snug fit. Then using the same 10awg solid copper wire i cut them to the same length as the 3 amp fuses on the mid and treble panels and inserted them inplace of the fuses. You will have to squish the fuse holder "fingers" together before inserting the solid copper bar to make them small enough to tightly grip the copper wire.
After that i hooked it up with Kimber 8TC to my EICO HF89 (50W/CH) EL34 powered tube amp and wow! definite improvements all around , and top to bottom. The 2.7s are definitely more dynamic now with the highs coming thru with lots more definition. Once the amp warmed up after an hour of playing my wife and my pet yellow lab started to dance and boogey to the Maggies like they do with the JBLs! What can i say but rock and roll baby! And, btw, the maggies now sound great with all types of music. Anyway, thanx to all with your suggestions and encouragement to bring the 2.7 back into the fold. Best regards, Dak
