Another Vote for the Chinese "Odin 2" Interconnect

First let me dispose of the labeling issue. This is a cable that looks like and is described in some ways to be like Nordost Odin 2 cable. Now, I have no problem with knock-offs. It's done all the time, even referencing the real thing. Walmart advertises its own brand of small coated aspirin as "Compare to Bayer." Some of our fellow inmates don't care for knock-offs and seem to take personal offense. Witness the response below to my report of a cable that looks exactly like a Kimber. With that in mind I do take issue with this Chinese cable being marked as "Nordost Odin 2." I can't say I know what the legalities are. Google, an American company, permits them to advertise this way and is happy to take their money. American capitalism at its . . best. I am confident that no one will think they are getting the "real" Nordost Odin 2 for the price being asked. While the cable and terminations look fine enough, the wooden rings that carry the false labeling seem crudely made compared to pictures of the real ones. So it's a poor counterfeit. Nevertheless, as to my personal point of view I hold no brief for Nordost. I can buy a nice car for what they charge for a 1 meter pair of their Odin 2 interconnects. For the cable business generally, "ripoff" comes pretty close to describing their exploitation of the audiophile buyer IMO. And they've been doing it for a very long time.

With that out of the way, my cables are terminated with XLR connectors. I am writing because I am astonished at how good these cable are. They replace a pair of very good Coincident cables, quite favorably reviewed (if a while back) by Michael Fremer. They are placed between my DAC and my preamplifier. I hesitate to use the cable clichés, but it's like I have a new amp or preamp; they're that good. Clarity like I never heard before and silken highs. Increased front to back differentiation. What makes it all the more astonishing to me is that following my preamplifier I have 20 foot long Discovery cables to my amp. So this one meter before the preamp can make all that difference. Amazing! The closer to the source, the more it seems to matter.

I have read posts about Chinese "Odin 2" cable here and elsewhere. There have also been favorable comments about the speaker cable and about the USB cable. But the interconnect is the only one that seems to be similar in form to the real Odin 2. So I went there first.
