Not factually correct. However the stereo format itself more limits our ability to recreate realism than does any other technical issue.

We've been pontificating these other technical issues for over 50 years now and as far as I can tell we'll be doing it for the next 50 - but at this point in time it should be clear to all that the format itself is the greatest limiting factor.

IMO 2-channel audio reproduction is mostly about selecting and or designing audio components that allow listeners the choice of selecting qualities of "sound" that are most subjectively preferential and pride of ownership. Given the lack of recording standardizations and the maturity of stereo audio technologies this seems to be the way that it should be.

As an engineer who makes no claim to being an audio engineer I find it almost embarrassing to think other engineers (audio or not) would think there is more to consumer high end audio than this.

Most engineers I know own cheap music systems and think high end audio in general is fantasy bullshit and a marketing rip off.
