A humbling experience. E-Stat, have you ever had a humbling experience? Hmmm, I don't suppose so.Most certainly. My wife and I are both figure skaters. Many years ago, our skating rink hosted a workshop with Micheal Siebert who was a US Figure Skating National dance champion. He was teaching us how to do choctaws, an advanced footwork manuever where you change edge, foot, and direction at the same time. Not at all an easy task. Yet, he made it look like child's play. His feet and legs made the transition with such precision that most of us felt like fools. It was amazing just to watch him skate, much less duplicate what he was doing!
One of my audio and music mentors humbles me most anytime we listen together. He has been a member of the ASO Chorus for over thirty years. A season ticket holder for as many years. He has been the liason between the ASO and Telarc Records for dozens of recordings. His record/CD library exceeds 10,000. It was he who introduced me to electrostatic speakers back in '76 with his Dayton-Wrights. He instantly hears subtle differences that take most folks (if at all) much longer periods of time to discern.
I wish I had the opportunity to be humbled more often in the presence of such talented folks. I would give my right nut to spend a day with Michael Schumacher on a test track. Humbled? Duh! Yet, I would likely learn more about advanced driving techniques in that space of time than years of simple discovery.
So do you remember WarrenWarren?
Nope. The search engine cannot locate any posts by a user of that name. Searching the test only finds a couple of posts where his name is mentioned, nothing more. Sorry.
