RE: JPlay discussion continues on Computer Audiophile.

Whose regular expression parser do you use? Is it open source? Or did you write your own from scratch? Have you analyzed the search algorithm? How sensitive is it to the size of the search space? Does the time a particular search takes to complete double if the search space doubles? How sensitive is it to the complexity of the search? Please don't try and have me banned here, for asking such questions.

Looking at that "JRiver page">
The regular expression implementation used is the Microsoft 2010 TR1 engine http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb982727.aspx
So, I guess the answer to some of my unanswered questions, is that the JRiver product 'borrows', this? Not against such 'borrowings'. In fact it is in the spirit of DIYers. To freely give/share their understandings, source code, and data structure for others' scrutiny, so that the art can be advanced. I think one reason I was banned from JRiver (and his commercial cronies) is that 'commercial interests' are often at logjam with the spirit of the DIY community. Commercial interests are not about someone else crafting a yet better product; they are about trying to re-sell their next release to those that must upgrade.
