"If you are hearing a difference between audio playback software you have a serious problem: your DAC is not immune to jitter in incoming data, something which really shouldn't be difficult to achieve (most storage devices, which receive data much faster than any audio device will ever require, deal with it just fine). Fix that, and you can just use the software that has the interface you like the best."
Many of us must have a serious problem with our DACs. With your expertise, perhaps you can tell us what to do.
