This hobby of 'audiophile' costs a lot of money. I started from the basic Kit 1 and gradually upgraded to PQ signature with silver caps and 50% nickel OPTs. I would suggest you start from basic Kit 1 with the PQ chassis, tantalum resistors, copper caps and silver hard wirings. That way you don't have to mess around the inside that much. Later, you can upgrade to double C-core or better OPTs.
I used to have B&W 801 series 80 before I went into AN PQ, but just couldn't get the volume, so I got the Kit 03 and the boxes from Brian. I'm sure Brian can provide you with Kit 03 with boxes. Kit 03 blows away 801s. It has much better highs and mids, but with my 50% nickel cores the bass is very near to the 801s. Next projects is to make external x-overs. Have to consult with Peter on this.
