to begin, it does sound very good with smooth extended highs and midrange that has very nice tone and attack, the bass however, is a little excessive. I have read in these forums another who experienced this when comparing a kit to a factory speaker and I think it may be true. To be fair I could not do the 90 degree cut on the corners of my cabinets so I used the step cut (or whatever it is called) that is used for the front and back panels. I do not know how much this affects the sound. I did get the size within 1/2 mm I am sure, so that part is right (I once read that if you can get the size within 1 mm the sound would be fine).
I do not want to have a negative tone, the kit 3 is a very good speaker that happens to be warmer than I would prefer. FWIW the only factory speaker I have heard was at Detroit's AK fest that David Cope had on display which were $15,000.00 E models and they were much leaner and with beautiful tone.
I hope this helps...
thanks
Phil
