Thanks everyone for your input. I just wonder if I move the speakers to the side with the stairs if it'll cause issues by splitting the reflection on the speaker. I figure it will at least double the time it takes for the top half to be reflected back as compared to the bottom.
I am starting to wonder if I want to try to setup the bedroom as an area just for 2 channel. I do have the equipment to do it. I'm also planning on getting a new amp soon to power them (would be using an Emotiva UPA-2 right now) and not buying a rear set of speakers would open up the budget a little bit.
What do y'all think about making the second bedroom a 2 channel and doing MMG, MMC, and MMGWs for a 5.1? I'd like to have the boxless feeling for the HT, but I can wait on that. I did buy these speakers mostly for 2 channel. However, if I put them in the second bedroom I can't pair it with my sub. (NHT U1, -3dB is 27hz)

Luckily my neighbors haven't complained about my setup yet. Although I don't listen that loud and have the dynamic range squeezed out of my HT setup on purpose for that reason.
Ok, the more I think about it the more a 2 channel makes sense. Plus that room would be a lot easier to treat. I'll have to take some measurements when I get home. Would 2ft on the sides and 3ft from the back be enough for that room? Not sure how to do it against the short wall (10'5"). Of course with them being the only real thing in the room it would make trial and error a lot easier.
