RE: Flat images in 3d space? Valin's review of 1.7s made me do this (Long & not about 1.7s.)

This, I would consider very unprofessional, indeed. I think I am going to approach him on the matter. Tks.

Edited to add:
Ha ha, I just saw a picture of it before I got to ask him.

Yes, it is a pile, but it is not "big". In fact, my own is far more intruding for having the flat TV in the middle, along with the audio equipment underneath.

Tell you what. I have yet to hear a Maggie set, with nothing in the middle, do better imaging than my MMGs with all my crap in the center. Tons of thousand $ in equipment driving 3.6, 20.1 and other MMGs, and yet they can't even beat my Denon receivers in imaging. To be sure, dealer environments hardly qualify as good places to listen to Maggies. And I have not heard that many Maggies yet, but I'll get there.

In the meantime, I have increasingly become convinced that "stuff in the middle" has been unduly accused of "imaging damage" to a far greater extent than it should. It can be dealt with. I am in the minority on this. So, just watch how I will be clobbered around here for having just said this sacrilege...you may have company shortly :-))

It may sound as if I am "promoting" this kind of thing. I am not, despite the fact that I've also seen it "fix" the void between two 3.6s.

Certainly, I am not dismissing the experience of the many who enjoy their Maggies in less cluttered environments. The stuff I have between my MMGs is too heavy to remove. I know it has an audible effect, of course. So, starting this weekend, my own MMGs will perform in other environments (at friends', with open middle space). If they can image so much better, I will be superbly happier.

I am also working on getting more exposed to other Maggies in varied settings. Really, one day I will get better Maggies. It is only a matter of time, but I will make sure to know what makes them work really well.
