Alright then, we are calling the apples by their names :-))

The effect, here, has been constant through most types of equipment changes, not just the amplifiers. To be sure, something as simple as speaker cables have affected it in the past. I am sure that a few beers will do that as well, so I stick to red wine...in the smaller glasses.

In replying to Jim, I forgot to include the players. The tests, this time, were all made with the computer as the source (flac). The cPlay program works great and it is a reliable player of CD material, except for SACD. In the last sessions, the power amp used was my oldest piece of equipment (NAD 2200PE) but it got the signal straight from the USB DAC, no pre amps.

By and large, a wide variety of system combos has been able to do this here. None of the combinations has done it if the chokes are taken off.

The one thing I still need to do is to change the room and see what kind of effect this has. So, I'll take the MMGs elsewhere next Saturday. The process may get these babies a little humbled. They'll have to face a pair of B&W 802D that cannot be moved from one of the 2 rooms that we will use for the test.
