Marriages of convenience are a big problem in both countries and they ruin it for people who have genuine relationships. An ex of mine fell in love with a guy from Florida, went to the US and got married but was still too scared to come back to Oz to visit her parents for the first 1 or 2 years because she was worried about not being allowed back into the US. Once her residency paperwork was completed she was OK. Apparently it is like being interrogated by the CIA - "what brand of toothpaste does your husband use?" "what is your husbands favourite chinese dish" "what are the christian names of your inlaws" .......................Cheers,
