It's funny you'd reference the lyrics in Magical Mystery Tour as being better than Pepper. I used to think that too but find that the lyrical "variety" is greater on Pepper. "Within You, Without You" and "She's Leaving Home" on Pepper are two very different songs. I don't find the same variety with "Hello, Goodbye" and some of the more mainstream songs of MMT but find it with the psychedelic lyrics to "Strawberry Fields" and "Blue Jay Way". Different albums to be sure...
