Re: What I believe (very long post)

I understand and respect your approach to choosing your components. It is rational and it works for you - what more can you ask.

For what it is worth, I have never awakened in the morning and wanted to scrap my system. My approach has worked for me in that I have a system I thoroughly enjoy and spend little time thinking about changing. It sounds as if you too derive a lot of enjoyment from your system, so at least we appear to have that in common.

I relate to your attitude towards the age of equipment. I don't think that technical "break-throughs" happen much in high end. I recently sent both my turntable and speakers back to their respective manufacturer for upgrading while I was between houses. Everything now sounds to me much improved, but I suspect that it primarily due to the fact that I got lucky with my new soundroom. On the other hand, turntables and speakers are probably two components that should generally be subject to improvement.

I'm such a neanderthal that I still prefer vinyl to digital, even though it is a total PINA.
