The only restriction on DBTs I'm aware of is that those being tested not have any way to know which piece of equipment they are being presented with at any given time. This prevents them from making biased judgements. The test is designed to be fair, not necessarily short. If it takes a long time for a listener to evaluate each stimulus, that is well within the possibilites of DBTs. If you read the DBT policy statement on this site, you will see that their position is that DBTs are the only way to accurately determine whether or not subtle differences between audio components actually exist. This is consistant with all respected scientific methods of investigation. Anti DBT bias is the mantra of those who do not want you to get at the truth. As a consumer, why wouldn't you want to know? Why would it bother you to learn that a $500 amplifier sounds no different from a $5000 amplifier? Unless maybe you don't want to know that you just wasted $4500. Or are about to.
