Re: well...

interesting post

'it it works (makes a difference that is of value) who cares why?'

obviously many of the members here at aa do. if people didn't show an interest in how things work there would be no technological advances. this may or may not be a good thing

if people want to use a product that they feels improves their life who am i to complain? however, i don't approve of products that claim to do something they do not, or that make false scientific claims. if the chips makers had simply said 'it might improve sound quality' rather than making outrageous claims about rearranging the molecules on a cd i wouldn't be as concerned. if the chip is possibly a placebo then i think its only right potential consumers are made aware of this. i have yet to see evidence of it making any change to the digital data-stream from the cd, or viable explanation of how it would do this. personally this leads me to one conclusion.

i would be interested in links to tests that show a measurable effect on the data (any difference would be measurable) as even the slightest difference could explain why some people here a difference? if there is more information or different information it will be measurable, if there is less jitter it will be measurable an so forth. that is the beauty of working in the digital domain.
