What I wanted to know is what the dot in the GSIC is using.

My collegue has seen more stuff (publications and patent applications) on quantum devices than most of us and he tells me that there's no way that a dot can do that to a CD.

You say that the conclusion that QD is not involved here is incorrect, but you limit yourself to that kind of simple statements and the explanations you're providing are not convincing.
