The stock capacitors on my MMGs are Erse MPX 12uF, 250V capacitors. Reviews on the internet seem to suggest that, whilst they may not be the creme De la creme of capacitors, they don't seem too badly rated either.
would changing the capacitor to some better make, V cap for example be very clearly audible?
So far i have enjoyed the changes of (initially) removing the solid steel metal U bar in the tweeter attenuator (replacing with copper, audible improvement), bracing the speakers with wood from IKEA, raising the speakers up, and then, with your support, building frames. All these mods, i could hear, and appreciate. They are mods that i would not reverse, for they make the music sound so much more real.
Oh yes, today i took out the fuse and fuse holder and soldiered the wires directly. Yes, the change is huge. The emotions within the music flows so much better, the upper frequencies sing and the whole presentation is so much more 'there'.
Would a cap upgrade (same value, better product) yield results that one can clearly hear as well?
My warmest,
WF
