Oh, yes, the A21 had been on all the time since it got here, until the thunderstorm today. Anyway, Friday was not going to be for the A21, and it was not (except for a late night check). The idea was just to measure what I could while it was still connected, which the storm did prevent me from doing.
So, I took the A21 off and got on with the program of evaluating FR-24T. This is short for Full-Razored, with all the 24 strips added, plus the ones behind the Tweeter. It has been on for several days. For consistency, I had to return to the Denon receiver doing everything; to stay kind of apples to apples.
Before I forget, on Thursday evening, the A21 did do the last leg of the FR-24T "alone" testing session. I wanted it to confirm one of the points that had been strongly "suggested" by the Denon. The A21 did so and went beyond. It confirmed that an MMG with just Full-Razoring, even before reinforced frames, stays a stable imager, clear and textured under quite more SPL pressure. Meaning, much better than a stock MDF frame MMG during complex orchestral passages and many highly dynamic, bass-intensive passages. It also retains better bass than stock. (Yet, alone, it has never reached the best bass that my MMGs have shown with just the P-Frames. Not even the A21 was able to push FR-24T alone that far.)
So, what happens when reinforced framing comes into play along with FR-24T? I had deliberately stayed away from adding the P-Frames all week long. The star was ONLY FR-24T MMGs and it was VERY satisfying.
This Friday evening, however, the stars of the night were, for the first time together, P-Frames+FR-24T. Oh brother, WHAT A STAR COMBO!!!
