It's great that you have some space around your house. Trees are a mixed blessing. They sure make a mess.
Both points are true. The fall is a mess. I have to get the pond netted or it will fill with leaves. I have a number of large goldfish and koi in it. The largest koi is around 20" the largest goldfish, around 15"
Behind our lot ...is about four acres of greenbelt. Beyond that is a lake.

You are lucky to have that space around you - sounds very nice.
Believe me, not complaining. While I do have some friends with several acres, New Jersey has the highest population density of any state in the union. About 6 times the population density of Georgia! This used to be the garden state, but most of the farms are now housing developments. If we had to feed ourselves, we'd starve to death.;-) Nine million people in a state so small that you can drive the width in 90 minutes and the length in a bit over 3 hours. Oh well, the pizza is great.
BTW, the President just visited our town yesterday. He was here for a meet and greet and to present a speech on helping small buisiness'. He ate at a well known local sub shop called Tasty Subs. He was here five hours and all the business' near where he was had to shut done and the roads were impassable for most of the day. Most of the small business' in the area and their employess lost money and the town spent quite a bit on police overtime. So much for helping small business. It made national TV, but the area he was in was one of the least attractive in the township, with lots of characters and lowlifes on camera. Not a true representation of Edison New Jersey, I'm afraid. Old Thomas is probably turning over in his grave.
