In other words both grounds will be connected at the CD player, which is the grounding path for my system.Your system already has a grounding path. A rod stuck in the dirt isn't any sort of grounding path for your system. It's just a rod stuck in the dirt. You could stick it to the tip of your nose for all your system cares. Why do you seem to think that a rod stuck in the dirt has any particular relevance to your system?
