Note also that a very common 12DW7/7247 is the Matsushita from Japan, and that it is a Mullard clone and also boasts the cross-seam pattern on the top of the glass!
This valve is far inferior sounding to the Mullard, but I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that it is quite superior to the post-communist trash from Ei & JJ...
The giveaway is the "jaunty" crooked angle of the "flash" itself, which is much straighter on the Mullards, being quite perpendicular with the internal anode structures. Ditto the getters themselves. On the real Mullards, they are quite parallel with the mica spacer underneath them. On the Matsushita, the getter is canted up on an angle, resulting in the slightly lopsided "flash".
