And I am hardly disagreeing with that!

I don't care if some engineer has three Phd's. If they are wrong, proven so by practical application or experimentation, they are wrong. That's it.

There is incompetence in any field. That's not what this is about. This is about some hobbyist who proudly promotes the fact he knows nothing of underlying theory and then proposes to claim what the professionals of that collective field know and don't know.

Note that in not only this thread, but also the thread which led to this one, probably at least 200 posts, nobody, I mean nobody took exception to the initial advise which was not to put a filament rectifier directly under a tube socket. So that means most either agree with the technical advice or simply don't understand it and choose wisely not to contradict. Contradict, not question. that's a big difference.

Now if only somebody would have asked more details on why this is not recommended and wanted to know more about RFI mitigation, that to me is the spirit of this forum and I would love to participate in such a dicussion.
