The output from the PC to the DAC is always a full linear PCM data stream

Jon,

The PC always sends a full linear PCM bit stream to the external DAC (which is in my case in another room vs. where the PC is), and the firing pattern should be the same. De-compressing the data occurs on the PC, several stages before the buffered PCM stream is sent to the external DAC.

So, I am not sure with the type of bit stream from the PC the same, and the DAC totally isolated (it is actually on a different AC circuit, and isolated), how its power supply is affected by the PC de-compressing data.

What am I missing?

Lynn

P.S. Please also consider difference in sound quality on SOTA equipment may not be due to jitter, it may be due to other factors including differences in the analog circuits.
