See my reply to Lynn. There are no perfect DACs, there are no perfect CDP's or DVDP's, just real world equipment designed by men and built by companies looking to make a profit.
PERHAPS in an ideal scenario, a very unrealistic one, jitter would not be an issue, but since we do live in the real world, and not techno-fantasy land, one needs to take into account the realities of less than ideal implementations.
Besides, for an LSI chip (most all DAC's), the LIM _CAN NOT_ be eliminated totally, and so, even if we postulate the ideal of a perfect PS, a perfect ground plane, etc., the LIM inside the chip is going to occur no matter what. Of course, this will not be affected by the data steam into the DAC, but it is an oft overlooked point.
If you want to pretend that all audio equipment does it's job perfectly, then fine, believe that fantasy, but that does not mean that the rest of us have to follow that path of delusion. Good enough cause you say so, isn't going to cut it, not by a long shot.
