I am not sure what this means other than the player has a design defect?
What I find interesting is why a couple of audiophiles who presumably place some emphasis on high quality reproduction do not return their apparently defective hardware?
After hearing something odd that our audiophiles find interesting why not perform a simple check by using different hardware like their computer? It would probably take only a few seconds to check if they had used their computers to store the files before transferring to their portable devices.
Why having found something odd have our two audiophiles discarded all the likely explanations and fixated on something so unlikely as to be almost impossible. The ability to do this does seem to be an important part of being an audiophile.
