Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

Face it Klaus...

...the yeasayers don't want or expect an explanation, which is fine and dandy with the suppliers. It makes the "no money back" guarantee that much easier to do business by.

We naysayers might not ever get a worthy explanation, which is fine and dandy, too. Spend your $16 or $30 on a "well recorded disc". That is, if you can live with the idea that your system MIGHT not be reproducing music to it's absolute fullest potential. A quote from a customer comment on the MD web site:

"So, the chip has made it obvious that, in spite of dedicated lines and SOTA vibration control, power conditioning, and cabling a fair amount of veiling persists." - Robert Hart, Audio Tweakers, Inc., Ft. Lauderdale, Feb 2005"

It's quotes such as this that "slay" me. Well, let's not forget this one:

"...both Jon Secada and Gloria Estaban's voices are much clearer..."

Estefan, Estaban, whatever.

Last but not least:

"I treated one disc this morning by placing the chip beneath the player. It worked that way too!" - Patrick Conroy, Feb 2005

Assuming the laser is pointed upwards, cd play-side down, that would mean that the laser bounced off the disc, penetrated the bottom of the cdp, activated the chip, which in turn penetrated the bottom of the cdp and treated the disc. Will miracles never cease?

Go on, throw in a cd, crank it up, and remind yourself just how good your system sounds WITHOUT the "tweak" (used very loosely in this context) that will undoubtedly go down in audiophilia history for all the wrong reasons.
