DC voltage is defiantly bad for speakers but if you have no other way you will have to make do. Just hook up the multimeter first then touch the wires from the battery to the drivers' terminals just long enough to read the display less than a second with 1.5 volts should be fine especially on a driver like your 075 with its large voice coil.
But yea if you hooked up even 1.5 volts and left it hooked to your voice coil it could get hot enough to melt off the lacquer ruining your diaphragm.
Thats what makes a good multimeter an important tool to own.
