Hi
This goes back "several days" but Heppner loudspeakers made some of the CV drivers and the engineer there Steve Lesko may have been the designer of the CV "Dorhm" driver or what ever they called it. I had a pair of the 4x10 horns they made for the mid highs in my 64 Chevy 8 track player i got from them. Eventually CV bought out Heppner :-( and the magnificent and scary home built magnet charger was gone.
Funny how much things change, in the 70's there were 4 different loudspeaker driver makers within driving distance and Heppner and Oxford loudspeakers had friendly engineering both Mike Ozlick and Steve were great folks. It was driver parts i got from both that where the start of the commutated voice coil and then Servodrive subwoofers in the 80's.
As you suggested, the radiation pattern of a slot and ring radiator are totally different but a ring radiator driver made in the BMS style act's like a single source.
If i needed to add an extended hf source, one of the more modern drivers would be a better bet but all require some eq.
