New high resolution SACD releases, players and technology.

Seems like snake oil to me ..

I loved this statement:

*** Anyone who has been in a recording studio control room (not a friend’s converted bedroom or barn!) whilst a session is being recorded would have hopefully noticed a few major differences between what they were listening to and what a high quality domestic audio system sounds like. ***

Okay, I've been in a recording studio (several, actually).

*** One major difference is image stability, focus and weight. ***

Not sure I would agree with that. Wouldn't that be equipment specific?

I have noticed differences due to resampling, or the differences when different dithering algorithms are used, but these are all mastering process related. There's also a difference between optical and hard disk playback.

*** We looked at what the CD playback output looked like using ‘single tone bursts’ as well as ‘multiple frequency’ and lastly plain old music.

What we found after much analysis using bespoke software and measuring techniques was that all the players tested (ranging from US$1,000 to US$6,000) exhibited a series of small peaks across a 110Khz bandwidth above 30Khz. ***

Okay, I've measured several players based on "single tone bursts" and "multiple freaquency" as well as "plain old music". I've definitely seen some out of band artefacts, typically above 30kHz and occasionally > 1MHz.

But some of these ultrasonic artefacts are probably DAC related and can also be found on pro audio equipment, so surely that can't account for differences between studio and consumer equipment.

*** What the DAP.10 does is effectively stop the ripples from occurring ***

So would a low pass filter. I would suspect you can get a very decent one for a LOT less than whatever is being charged for the DAP10.
