Stock form, I do find find both 600 and 650 too recessed/polite on top, with the Sennheiser "veil." This also destroys the midrange transparency, which I cannot live without. Since the top is muted, the bass comes across too prominent, etc.
You'd be surprised how much difference there is once the foam between driver and ear are removed. Additional benefit is apparent when you replace the headphone cable with something better. I've heard transformative changes with something like Double Helix Senn cable, but even simple, thin single-crystal solid core copper wire can be ear-opening.
