It really depends on your room, sometimes one works better than the other. Usually you want the tweeters at about an equilateral triangle from your listening position for the best image. Then putting the woofers on the outside may give you a somewhat wider image without losing center fill, but you want at least two and preferably three feet or more to the side walls so woofer in may be preferable. Not to mention that there can be positive or negative room interactions in the bass and midbass. Bottom line, you should try it both ways and see what gives you the best bass response, imaging, and midrange clarity.
