Home Planar Speaker Asylum

Sorry Shane

That is a terrible room. I get the cali thing and I know we have to make do with what we have, but I dont envy you dude.

Some have suggested the sideways setup. I dont think the sideways setup will work in the situation you have. You sit just toooooo far away for it to work.

I usually pull them up a couple of feet for listening.

Here is an out of the box thing. Put the listening chair at the beginning of the rug so you sit super nearfield. It will be weird at first, but with some diffusion behind the speakers it is probably the best you will get.

Bring them out like you normally do and try a chair some where on the edge of the rug. The key is to get the speakers out as far into the room as you can and then sit close to the speakers.

That wont take the room out entirely of the equation but it will minimize the room influence. And from the comments your wife made, I am betting you are listening alone anyhow, so as inconvenient as this suggestion is, I think it is the best you can do.

If that works out, then you could try the sideways but given where your door is, it may not make much sense.

Do you know what the last thing you will hear at band rehearsal??

Cut to razor sounding violins
