Besides the lack of being able to easily and quickly change gear I think if done right should not be a problem. I think we are all guessing that it might be a problem as far as home owners insurance is concerned but I wonder if anyone has actually inquired to an insurance company about such a thing.Granted though, they might "say" one thing and "if" something does happen quickly recant. If assurances can be gotten in writing if the connection was made by a licensed contractor then it might be worth doing.
Dishwashers, Electric Cooktops, Garbage Disposals, etc. are all examples and I don't think any have protection circuitry like an Amplifier has...perhaps if an amp manufacturer would actually produce a UL approved amp which is made to be hardwired. Which would be nothing more than an amp with an encapsulated cord at the amp end and loose wires on the other end.
WARNING DO NOT WORK WITH ANYTHING ELECTRICAL INCLUDING WALL PLATES, WALL OUTLETS, AC CORDS, AC CORD ENDS, OR ANYTHING THE CONDUCTS CURRENT.
