That's the part of your post I agree with the most.

I do understand that the wrong type of capacitor can harm sound when it's in the signal path. However, this can be measured readily. Using low noise resistors in a high-gain circuit surely makes sense, and their improvement can likewise be easily measured. But I reject all the other stuff you mentioned, and I do indeed attribute any perceived audible difference to the simple explanations. Occam's Razor, etc.
