Depends on how it accomplishes the change.

A bright system may be that way because of some mechanical chatter somewhere in the equipment and cable collection. A simple change of support that eliminates the point of chatter will result in improved smoothness as well as higher resolution.

Another example is RFI. Simply filtering the AC power to a noise source such as a TiVo machine will reduce the spurious treble tones and make the sound more relaxed as well as more detailed.

However, a tweak that removes information would be detrimental on many recordings. Resistors in series with tweeters sometimes do this. Depending on the resistor, the warmth may come at the expense of detail.
