The Subdudes sound like a very good idea. The acoustic energy that is, by far, the most difficult to control and prevent from being transmitted to your neighbors is bass energy. Something designed to work with subwoofers should do the best job in that regards.Carpeting with heavy padding works to absorb some energy, but not so much bass. In addition to wall to wall carpeting, I use a big area carpet designed for acoustic absorption if front of the speakers. This suppresses interference from the reflection off of the floor; I bet it is also appreciated by neighbors below.
