I'm also a fan but I don't have huge collection of his stuff. Beyond the Byrds material I have Gene Clark/Clear Light, No Other, and D&C Through the Morning... all on vinyl but no CDs. How essential are Roadmaster, So Rebellious a Lover, and with the Gosdin Brothers? How are the CD transfers relative to the vinyl? Does anyone own and/or know of a US source for the 7 CD-Rs "box" of rarities? If so, how is the recording quality and is it mostly prime stuff or for completests only?
Gene was clearly extraordinarily talented, far more so than any of the other Byrds IMO. It is a great tragedy that his personal demons kept him for being better known and more productive, and eventually ended his life.
Thanks for the post!
