despite Gene's occasion drunken insults to Dylan's face. Bob seemed able to rise above it and realized what a ill man he was with. Poor Gene, never had the management over him that would provide the babysitting and support to allow him total freedom to do his music. Elliot Roberts comes to mind, look how Elliot handles EVERYTHING for Neil Young. Gene needed that.
As well as a lot of therapy. He contributed to his own lack of success because of his fear of flying, not to mention his fear of performing...until he actually would begin to sing....then all was transformed and he glowed.
God he was great.
