Up front, I'm a huge Moodies fan......and I was in '67-'72, when the first seven albums (post-Laine) came out. I think their songwriting was, and is, some of the best post-"Sgt. Pepper" English melodic psychedelic pop going. One difference in my tastes from then and now might be illustrated by how I arranged "Days of Future Passed" for my iPod: I omitted the overture/poem bit (track 1); and I substituted the single version of "Nights in White Satin" (sans orchestra and poem) for the album version. The poetry is no longer my cup of tea; the songs, in the main, remain ravishing.
