Very important - but IMO always spend more on the source component.That said - i have heard some pre-amps being so colored that they make all cdp's sound the same!!!
The Adcom amp is a fine amp - but it certainly has it's limitations - and does not require a super high-end pre-amp to mate with it.
What is your price range - because a good phono section alone (very important) could be expensive.
Also - what turntable rig are you using and what cdp.
