Yes, jitter is a catchall. And in some ways that is a good thing because you can clean up the effects of multiple flaws in your system in one place. With analog systems there is no way to clean up the signal once it is polluted so ultimately this is an advantage of digital playback.The real question is how much effort and money do you need to spend on preventing jitter if you have an effective cleanup technology.
