Hi.All depends on design.
A brandname all triode class-A OTL-OCL power amp delivers 200W/8R with 1.75R O/P impedance & 2Hz-85KHz -0.5dB open-loop, with NFB swithable to zero, which "sounded best" as per Marc Michelson of Soundstasge (www.soundstage.com).
I am using both tube & transistor phonostages & power amps, & I love both. Really good desings, sand or glasswsre regardless, sound good.
Music tells all.The best power amp I've auditioned so far is still all-triode OTL-OCL topology: Canadian design-built (in 2002) Tenor WP-75 75W monoblock, which earned rave sonic appraisals worldwide. Marc Michelson said so too, in his 2002 sonic review.
It's impedance is very low as translated to damping factor not over
11 from 10Hz to 20KHz.Sorry your impression of OTL tube amps are less than correct.
