Re: 'Taint that simple

Some of the formal musical training I received earlier in life was NOT to rely on visual cues but auditory cues. People like me have no problem listening to music with my back turned toward the speakers.
But there is another side to this; audiophiles are notorious for making the assumption that if it looks better, it must sound better. That usually lasts for about 6 months until they put the latest and greatest piece of equipment up for sale. Note the glut of used equipment on the market, especially equipment purchased in the past year or two.
My take on most of audiophilia is that it seeks to enhance "visual cures" at the sacrifice of just about everything else that is important to the reproduction of music.
