Re: Your argument applies to the Edison cylinder, not so much the CD

What I wanted to say is that there's virtually nothing that stops engineers from improving existing technology. They simply won't say "hey, here we have something new (Otto's engine, D/A-converter), it's nice, it works fine, now lets' do something different". Otto's engine is 130 years old, and still improving.

So it seems quite natural that devices are of better quality 5/10/20 years after they have been introduced.
