Re: Don't be so sure ...

After all the designer himself will be the first to tell you that what you perceive may have as much to do with non-audible parameters as audible ones...

Well, yes. Given that that possibility has yet to be ruled out, and lacking objective proof of actual audibility, it would be intellectually dishonest of me to say otherwise.

This is not a tall tale, I can point you to threads where the concepts are articulated in some detail, and for that matter Eddy, never shy for words, would very likely be willing summarize his philosophy.

No need. He already knows my take on this. As does Wellfed for that matter.

Now I'm not saying, or perhaps I should say I have not definitive proof, that Eddy designed his product to appeal to those susceptible to non-audible parameters...

I designed the Taos for just one person. Me. Just as I've been doing for some 20 odd years now. The only aspect of the commercial version of the cables that had to do with anyone else was terminating them with RCA plugs which I personally don't like and don't use.

And even what I ultimately chose to use for the RCAs was self-centered. If I were just designing for the marketplace, I'd have settled for terminating them with Bullet Plugs, or NextGens, or whatever.

And while I did consider using either Bullet Plugs or NextGens and did in fact try them both, ultimately I didn't like the fact that they completely lacked adequate strain relief for such a small cable. As did most everything else out three.

So I went in search of some that did. And out of the two dozen or so that I tried, I chose the one that I liked the most.

...but it is interesting that he's is on record as admitting that silk isn't technically the best dielectric...

Because technically it isn't the best dielectric. So why is it "interesting" that I'm on record saying that it isn't?

And by the way, it wasn't something that I "admitted to" as if I were questioned on the subject and was trying to conceal the fact. It's what I straight up told Srajan in the course of our telephone conversation.

What's "interesting" is that you seem to have such a problem with my being honest and straightforward.

...but unfortunately he didn't articulate the criteria that led to its selection.

I most certainly have. It's the same criteria I use for selecting everything else with regard to audio. It's that which simply gives me the most pleasurable and enjoyable experience. And for me it was silk over everything else that I'd tried.

In fact he seems very reluctant anything at all about Tao

What sort of nonsense is this? I've said everything there is to say about it save for the makeup of the alloy used for the conductors.

However, if I were a betting man I'd say you likely aren't interested in the threads I mentioned, nor are you likely to ask Eddy for his take on all this.

There's no need. He already knows what my take on all this is. As does Wellfed for that matter.
