Followup How2 for 32-bit drivers in Catalina

While I managed to resolve my driver issues with an OS rollback, this is ultimately a temporary solution. Even if I hate Apple sometimes, it isn't wise to ignore their security updates long-term unless a machine is completely cut-off from the Internet, something that is relatively hard to achieve if you have your machine networked with other devices that also have Internet access. There are security holes everywhere nowadays.

So, with that, the best solution I have found is to use a virtualization platform, in particular Parallels, which is really quite inexpensive for what it offers. Loading an installation of Mojave in a virtual machine, then whatever 32-bit applications and drivers in the VM and running in 'coherence mode' allows you to have all of the functionality of the 32-bit applications in Catalina because the VM can pass data back and forth between the OSes. This also provides a safe way forward because Mojave still has update support from Apple. This also allows you to shut down the VM when not needed and therefore recapture system resources. I think Apple should have provided this themselves built in to the OS, but MacOS is free and Parallels is inexpensive so it isn't a terrible solution for a narrowly-tailored problem.
