Maybe the horn systems dynamic range was causing too much SPL which leads to listening fatigue.Some folks with front horns tend to play them louder because of dynamic range and front horns can offer very low distortion at hi-spl so folks tend to turn them up a bit more than is healthy for your ears. Some like to demo at hi-spl I dont for the reason you posted.
