Per Eddie Vaughn (whom I hightly respect, tho I am not blindly loyal to):
Difficult to bias precisely and keep biased
Sometimes unstable
Danger of thermal bias runaway
Slower power stage rise time
Greater likelihood of RFI pickup
Fewer usable tube choices
Inefficient due to much greater heat wasted in cathode resistor
Increased heat degrades in-chassis capacitors
Much higher B+ voltage required
Again, most these are able to be addressed, tho some are not with many common tube choices. That said, I am seriously considering a direct-coupled amp as my first scratch build.
