coupling : cap vs transformer

assuming a perfect capacitor and a perfect transformer, the transformer will sound better. there were discussions in AA years ago on time smear due to charge and discharge time of the coupling cap. OTOH, if you want to get the "best" go for direct coupling. No cap or transformer can beat 2-3 inches of wire.
